To Charlotte and Back

Friday afternoon we headed to Charlotte for the weekend. We had planned to leave by 5, but in true Wyatts-with-2-kids form, we left around 7:45. However, I can say that we got the kids bathed and pajama-ed before we got in the car.
It was SO good to see Nana, and Alden was really excited about sleeping in Nana's pull-out couch bed. Hudson enjoyed getting some good rocking chair time with Nana.
Reading to the bears.
Saturday morning, we had a wonderful Nana breakfast, which is famous in our family. Amber and Ashley were really jealous. It was kind of rainy in the morning, but the sun came out and we were able to get outside and play in the lovely gingko leaves in the front yard. I love Nana's gingko tree. I can't wait to get to a house where we can plant one!The main event of our weekend was our friends Colleen and Chad's daughter Abby's first birthday (that was a mouthful, wow). All of my library/playgroup friends were there, minus Megan who just had a 10 lb 5 oz baby Michael on Thursday! All the kids have changed so much in just 4 months and I miss them so much. Alden had a great time playing and running around outside with the bubble machine.

After the party, we went to Bill and Ashley's to get together with our Shea friends. Again, we miss them so much, and really enjoyed the fellowship. Alden and Ella played a lot, and didn't crash like we had feared after NO nap that day for either one of them.

Sunday morning, we went to church with Nana, and brought both kids into the service. I feel like we couldn't have been much more distracting unless Alden was doing a dance on the altar. Everyone was really welcoming, though, and seemed glad we were there. Alden and Hudson did do remarkably well, though. I figured we would only make it 5 minutes or so.

After church, Kitty Scott, Vickie and Dillon, Paul and Scottie came over for lunch. It was great to see them. Hudson got some great cuddle time with his great-aunts and cousin, and Alden had fun playing with Dillon and Scottie.
Scottie was reading to Alden.
We played hide-and-seek outside. I counted, and found the two of them in this little cave of bushes. This was really the only time Alden stayed hidden. The other times, she would pop out before the seeker got to her.

"Taking a break" on the bench in the backyard with the sheep and the juice.
